Following much preparation and hard work, Nanchang International School held its Opening Ceremony on Wednesday 20 April 2011.  A warm sunny day greeted lots of visitors as they arrived at school at 9:30am for speeches and the opening ceremony held in the school's gymnasium.  It was wonderful to see all the children at school - all eleven, together with their parents and siblings, as well as future potential students, their parents, and other interested parties.   Colleagues from Suzhou International School and CSIES also showed their support with their attendance. Many officials from Jiangxi Government and Education departments all attended as VIP guests, taking part in the speech-making before the school's official plaque was unveiled.  Nanchang and Jiangxi television and newspaper reporters and cameras were there to capture the proceedings for posterity!

After a group photograph was taken, we all headed to the main school building for a tour of the classrooms and facilities, and to see the children's work.  We also watched the children perform an Indian dance, prepared with the help of the Indian mums, and a Chinese song performance that was taught to the children by the Chinese teachers at school.  It was a wonderful, happy event, thoroughly enjoyed by all - and very exciting to see ourselves on local television that evening, as well as in the newspapers the following day!
We make the news!
