Getting Ready for Suzhou

Saturday 23 April 2011

I'm really happy and excited by our unexpected trip to Suzhou early tomorrow morning by train!  It will be so lovely to have a few days away!  Our visas are about to expire - Matthew has been here a whole year now!  Anyway, our passports were duly sent off to Suzhou for visa renewal -Suzhou, because that was where we first registered on our arrival......and now it turns out that we should be present too - hence our unexpected trip!

It is 4:30pm and I haven't started packing yet!  I don't like packing.  We are only going for a couple of days, until Tuesday night, and I'll just throw some things together in a moment.  I have been sitting at the laptop too long today, and my lower back really hurts.  It is due to having worn heals (3inch no less) for the first time in ages, on Wednesday, the day of the school opening ceremony.  I felt like dressing up a bit, and donning a dress - and generally, dresses always look better with heels!  I'm paying for it now though!!  It would have been fine, but I should have come straight home after the ceremony instead of just popping to Rainbow, our local supermarket, for some bits for lunch.  That's what did it!  That last half hour, and carrying those heavy bags afterwards.  Quite strange too - for everywhere I go, it is always to continual shouts of "Wah, how tall!".  That day however, wearing my 3inch heels, which took me to a height of 6 feet 8 inches, I didn't hear it once!  Maybe everybody was just too stunned to utter a word~!
